Capone says, "50 is the new 20!"

If it’s true what Baby Boomers are saying – “50 is the new 20” – then does the same hold true for dogs? Capone thinks so! He’s a 6-year-old male pittie who has the spunk (and health!) of a pup, but the stability and devotion of a mature gentleman. Sadly, Capone’s former owner got sick and surrendered him, but Capone is highly adoptable and is waiting for the right home. He seems to be fine around other dogs and kids; we haven’t done a cat test yet, but we can, if you’re interested. Capone has been a sweetheart at adoption events and he loves being pet, scratched, and rubbed. NEWS FLASH: Older dogs – like Capone – make GREAT pets for people who aren’t around 24/7 because (1) they need fewer walks than puppies; (2) they sleep in later than puppies; and (3) they can hold their bladder longer than puppies! Just think of how much better behaved you are now than when you were a teenager (yuck!).....it's the same for dogs! But despite being older, Capone would still LOVE to accompany you on a jog or a hike! And he’s very smart, so don’t tell him that “old dogs can’t learn new tricks!” Best of all, Capone has a long life ahead of him. If he were a human, he’d only be 42 years old (6 doggie years = 42 human years, give or take!). That’s FAR from retirement! However, we need to warn you about a sad reality: at over-crowded shelters, older dogs are usually among the first to be put down, so you’ll need to ACT QUICKLY on this one! If you’re interested in experiencing how PERFECT older dogs – especially older pitties! – can be, then hurry over to the ACCT shelter at 111 W. Hunting Park in Philadelphia. They’re open 7 days a week! For more information, contact Natalie (nsmith@pspca.org) or Jill (jsweeney@pspca.org). Capone is waiting to meet you!

PS: If you've always wanted a pit bull, but aren't sure if you could handle one, then an older pittie like Capone is the right dog for you!
